“[Obtaining earned media] gives the illusion that the client’s message is simply the product of impartial journalism rather than advertising with which the consumer is more familiar and resistant. [This is why a] story placed in the newspaper, picked up by everybody else, will actually have more impact than an advertising campaign.”
– Corporate Watch, “Public Relations and Lobbying Industry – An Overview.”
“[The 1999 study] was the first to definitively demonstrate the return on investment (R.O.I.) of public relations or corporate communications spending. . . . [with] Fortune’s Most Admired Companies spen[ding] proportionately more on corporate communications than those in the bottom quintile.”
– USC Annenberg Strategic Public Relations Center, “Public Relations: Generally Accepted Practices Study.”
As the target of over $300 million in annual public relations spending, New York City is the most active media market in the Nation. As the home of the three major network news broadcasts as well as America’s “paper of record,” the New York Times, New York City is also the nation’s most influential media market. As a result, competition for earned (i.e. free) media coverage in New York is fierce, and only those with the finest public/media relations skills can regularly and reliably secure media coverage.

New York City is also home to The Public Advocacy Group, where we have demonstrated a consistent ability to secure earned media for our clients within virtually every New York City based print and broadcast media source. The Public Advocacy Group’s efforts have met with equal success on the national level, where we have placed stories in nearly every state in the union, including in the Washington Post, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Miami Herald and Seattle Times, on television networks including as ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and FOX and radio stations including CBS Radio, NPR and Air America.

The Public Advocacy Group’s public/media relations work goes well beyond ensuring our clients’ messages reach the public through paid and earned media. From the initial crafting of their message, through its placement in the proper media source, when our clients need free media to communicate to the public, The Public Advocacy Group makes sure their message gets heard.
